Dieselgate: Volkswagen keeps on cheating both consumers and Authorities
07 lug 2016After the VW recall campaign Altroconsumo tested an Audi Q5 2.0 TDI 110 KW in laboratory. Nitrogen oxides emissions (NOx), tested after the illegal device removal, exceed over 25% the established limits necessary to obtain the Euro 5 homologation.
Volkswagen Group keeps therefore on cheating both consumers and Italian and German Authorities.
In the following video Altroconsumo shows test details. After a first test phase, led in laboratory, on chassis dynamometer and on-road the car was brought to Audi repair shop.
Consequently, after Audi intervention Altroconsumo tested again the car discovering that the on-road emissions still remain the same while the chassis dynamometer values show a clear increase in NOx emissions.
This results can be considered predictable since the illegal device was designed to lower the homologation test phase emissions. However, emissions after the intervention are so high to reach +25% than Euro 5 limits: 225,5 mg/ km vs 180 expected by law.
The solution proposed by VW - upgrading the software - seems to be useless if not damaging; in any case inadequate to guarantee NOx emissions limits respect.
Altroconsumo urges therefore the Italian Ministry of Transport and KBA (the German Federal Authority for transport) to immediately verify in depth the technical solution proposed by VW.
In the meanwhile, awaiting the results of this further analysis Altroconsumo suggests consumers to not bring their cars to repair shops for the recall.
Altroconsumo asks for exemplar sanctions by Antitrust in consequence of the VW serious and repeated unfair commercial practice.
In addition to this, the organization demands for an adequate compensation for the involved consumers as in the USA, where the refunds have been conceded from an amount of 5 to 10.000 dollars.
Altroconsumo reminds its class action against VW; pre-adhesions are free and available here.
