#ioCondivido: sharing festival a smash hit

Visitors numbered over 100,000 at the festival for the Sharing Economy, an event held for the first time in Milan on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September, sponsored by the City of Milan. More than 100 speakers, over 25 partners and about 80 events.

Enthusiastic response for the Sharing Economy festival, #ioCondivido, which ended yesterday in Milan. More than 100,000 people attended the event over its two days, to find out more about the sharing economy revolution and its impact on everyday life.

The festival, promoted and organized by Altroconsumo and sponsored by the City of Milan, was held for the first time in Milan’s iconic Castello Sforzesco.

There were over 100 speakers, both Italian and foreign.

21 panel discussions focused on the topic of the sharing economy, along with 56 workshops and learning and entertainment events on aspects of sharing. 2,000 people attended the panel discussions.

A capacity crowd gathered to hear Arun Sundararajan, professor at the New York University Stern School of Business, considered the world’s foremost authority on the Sharing Economy. About 500 people heard him speak and more than 100 waited for the opportunity to exchange a few words with him at the book signing.

1,650 visitors attended the exhibit entitled “Through other eyes”, an interactive itinerary designed to reveal the activities of Altroconsumo, expanding one’s viewpoint in surprising ways.

Very high numbers for the workshops, too: smart food shopping taught by the experts of Altroconsumo, the workshop led by a nutritionist together with the food blogger Chiara Maci, and the numerous workshops on sustainable mobility were among the events most attended by the public.

Social network exchanges confirmed the general interest in the topic: about 2,800 tweets with the hashtag #ioCondivido were exchanged on Twitter, and Saturday the festival was one of the leading trending topics in Milan.

The Festival exhibitors included the most innovative web platforms, leaders of the sharing revolution that have promoted the newest collaborative initiatives of the past few years, forging the link between the traditional economy and the sharing economy: Airbnb, BlaBlaCar, Gnammo and Uber.

Fastweb, Google, Intesa Sanpaolo and Heineken were among the corporations that also participated in the event.
