Dear China Eastern Airlines Customer Service, Our China Eastern flight from Tokyo to Venice, originally scheduled to depart on 9 August 2026, was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. We were rebooked by the airline on a new flight departing only on 14 August 2026, five days after the original departure date. We are four passengers and, because of this very late rebooking, we were forced to extend our stay in Tokyo for five additional days and to pay unexpected expenses for accommodation, meals and other necessary costs. At the airport, we were informed that China Eastern would not cover hotel or meal expenses. However, we have kept all documents related to the cancellation, the rebooking and the additional expenses incurred. We therefore kindly request: -reimbursement of the reasonable and documented additional expenses caused by the cancellation and the five-day delay in our return journey; -a written explanation as to why no earlier alternative transportation was offered; -confirmation of any other reimbursement or compensation that may apply to our case. We can provide the official flight cancellation certificates issued by China Eastern, the original tickets, the rebooking documents and all receipts for the additional expenses. We look forward to receiving your written reply. Kind regards, Gianluca Campana on behalf of the four passengers involved Email: gianluca.campana@unipd.it

Dear China Eastern customer Service, Thank you for your reply. All the info that you requested were in the file that I sent you in attachment and that I am re-senmding here for your convenience. I also report here the booking references: • Gianluca Campana — booking reference: 801426030498114143 • Silvia Lanfranchi — booking reference: 801426030498115105 • Nicolò Campana — booking reference: 801426030498110294 • Jacopo Campana — booking reference: 801426030498110294 The cancellation of our flight was caused by Typhoon Dolphin and to the adverse weather conditions. However, our claim does not concern compensation for the cancellation itself. It concerns the documented financial damage and additional expenses resulting from the approximately five-day delay in reaching our final destination, Venice Marco Polo (VCE). We therefore wish to submit a formal claim for compensation pursuant to Article 19 of the Montreal Convention of 1999. Article 19 provides that the carrier is liable for damage occasioned by delay in the carriage by air of passengers, unless the carrier proves that it and its servants and agents took all measures that could reasonably be required to avoid the damage, or that it was impossible to take such measures. We fully recognise that the typhoon itself was outside the carrier's control. Nevertheless, this does not in itself resolve the separate issue of the financial losses caused by the prolonged delay in completing our journey. Accordingly, we formally request reimbursement and compensation for the documented additional expenses and financial losses caused by the approximately five-day delay, including the necessary costs arising from our prolonged stay in Japan. Should China Eastern Airlines consider that it is exempt from liability under Article 19 of the Montreal Convention, we kindly ask you to specify the measures taken following the cancellation to minimise the duration and financial consequences of the delay, and the basis upon which the airline considers that all measures reasonably required to avoid the damage had been taken, or that such measures were impossible. We kindly request that this communication be treated as a formal claim for compensation under Article 19 of the Montreal Convention and that we receive a substantive written response to this specific claim. We are now back to Italy but you can contact us at this email: gianluca.campana@unipd.it Yours faithfully, Gianluca Campana
