Dear Altroconsumo Team, I am writing to request assistance in obtaining fair compensation from Indie Campers regarding my rental under booking number 41QN6X. I rented a camper van for one week in December 2025 for approximately £900, including extras and premium insurance. During the rental, the van experienced serious mechanical and safety issues, which caused substantial stress, disruption, and loss of enjoyment: The gas, heating, and hot water system failed repeatedly. Hot water was available for no more than 1–2 minutes at a time, leaving us without proper heating or showers for several days during winter. Despite purchasing an additional gas bottle at our own expense, the system remained faulty. Due to the lack of heating and hot water, we were forced to stay in a hotel for one night (€67, receipt attached), disrupting our itinerary. On the final day, the fridge detached from its housing while driving, creating a safety risk and forcing us to drive slowly to return the van. The situation was documented in real time via WhatsApp with images, and I also attached evidence when submitting my complaint to Indie Campers. I have already received partial reimbursements (€80.36 for the gas bottle and €65.89 for hotel/affected nights), but this does not reflect the full extent of the service failure. Under EU consumer law and the Italian Consumer Code, services must be provided with reasonable care and skill, and vehicles rented to consumers must be safe, functional, and fit for purpose. In this case, the service was clearly not delivered as contracted. I am therefore requesting Altroconsumo’s assistance to: Ensure Indie Campers provides adequate compensation for the rental fee, reflecting the loss of use of essential services, stress, and disruption to our holiday. Address additional losses incurred, including the hotel stay (€67), extra fuel due to delayed drop-off, and any associated costs from a cancelled car rental. Supporting evidence and receipts were shared and remain on file. Deposit release and refund: €25.04 — refunded on January 6, 2026, at 11:16:34 AM, to your original payment method. Additional compensation (issued to the original payment method) €65.89 — issued as a separate refund to your original payment method. Together, these two transactions total €90.93, both of which should already be available on your original payment method. Receipts were provided for your reference. Compensation applied directly to your booking: €80.36 — related to the gas bottle and the affected/extended night. This amount was not refunded to the original payment method; instead, it was applied directly to your booking and is reflected in your customer area as a booking adjustment (displayed as €99.85).We acknowledge the concerns you reported during the rental, including the repeated malfunction of the heating/hot water system and the fridge detachment.
